Chemique Adhesives, Inc. Offers Solvent-Free (Solfre) Adhesives to U.S. Market
America’s going green, and in a big way. There are environmentally friendly alternatives to everything these days, including energy sources, household cleaners, beauty products and more. With all this growing environmental awareness, Chemique Adhesives, Inc.’s innovative solvent-free polyurethane adhesives have recently become increasingly popular in the U.S. market.
Chemique is committed to continual research and development of environmentally friendly adhesives, and its most representative product, Solfre2, a two-component polyurethane adhesive completely free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs), fully meets current environmental regulations. Typically, adhesives are one-component polyurethane with polyol and isocyanate pre-mixed. These adhesives use moisture to start the cure process, releasing harmful excess isocyanate into the atmosphere. With Solfre2, however, the two components come in equal amounts and stay separate until the point of application. When the two parts of the Solfre2 come together, a chemical reaction starts the cure process and leaves no harmful free isocyanate in the atmosphere. Because there are no free VOCs, the product can be spray applied, unlike the one-component polyurethane.
The new Solfre2 range falls into three key types: Solfre2 GP, Solfre2 HC and Solfre2 HCR, with each type providing a number of different open times (minutes the product may remain open during use) to suit the individual customers’ needs. Solfre2 GP is the general-purpose formulation, which can be applied using either spray or bead. Formulated specifically for honeycomb panelling and, again, used with either spray or bead is the Solfre2 HC; lastly is Solfre2 HCR, an alternative rollable version of the Solfre2 HC. The new Solfre2 range is available for use in a whole range of applications and is most widely used for: insulation panels in buildings and vehicles; cladding and architectural panels; and textile and foam laminates, with typical substrates being: foam, timber, metals and plastic.
“Solfre2 is an integral component in ensuring that the correct performance criteria for panels are achieved,” said Joe Orr, Chemique’s operations director. “This is an adhesive that will maintain the structural integrity of the panels, reducing weight while maximizing strength,” he continued.
Unlike many adhesive companies, Chemique not only supplies the adhesive, but also offers a full range of services including adhesive application equipment, technical support andafter-sales service.
“At Chemique, we are dedicated to quality customer service by providing a Total Package Policy, offering the right product, with the right application and the right after-sales service,” said Orr. “This ensures that all of our customers receive a complete and tailored solution to their manufacturing demands.”
Atlanta-based Chemique Adhesives, Inc. was established in 2004 as a subsidiary company of England’s Chemique Adhesives and Sealants Ltd, pioneers in the development of solvent-free polyurethane adhesives for over 20 years. The company serves as a stateside solution for adhesive and adhesive application needs for a wide array of manufacturing industries, including: architectural panels, cleanroom, recreational vehicles, foam conversion, raised access flooring, furniture and many others. |
